Master of Arts in Fashion Design

The curriculum offered is designed to give the Bachelor of Fine Arts, BA Home Economics, Textiles, Leather Technology and other design degree (all at Honours level) students an intensive knowledge in the specialist subject as well as a diverse background in basic essential disciplines which are the Common Core of all our degree courses. The second year of the course will enable the BA Fashion Design (Hons) students to gain a Master of Arts in Fashion Design. Emphasis is placed on the theoretical, practical and research aspects of various areas in Fashion Design such as Woven Apparel, Knitwear, Textiles and Print & Surface Decoration and one of the basic philosophies of the course is that good practice requires good theory and vice versa.
The First and Second semester modules of this Post-Graduate MA exist in order to bring all entrants to the required level of conceptualisation and technical skills, as well as provide the necessary academic business knowledge and consist of the following subjects:

    Master Business Administration (MBA) in Product & Fashion Merchandising

    The Fashion Designers' job is one of creative direction, working with team spirit to develop appropriate, innovative, commercially viable clothing for today's fast changing world markets. Due to the global nature of the industries involved, clothes made in Bangladesh, from textiles sourced from China, India, Australia and Europe are subsequently exported all over the world. This system requires Designers to be informed on a wide range of issues such as global commerce, market forces, consumer information, cultural awareness, and 'state-of-the-art' technology.
    The1st year of post graduate study is where the Modules form that part of the programme where students concentrate on those areas which are essentially the basic building blocks for the individual specialism being studied, before moving on to their chosen specialist subjects in the 2nd semester of the 2nd Year.     The curriculum offered is designed to give the Bachelor of Fine Arts, BA in Architecture, Fashion, Product, Home Economics, Textiles, Leather Technology or other design graduates an intensive knowledge in the specialist subject as well as a diverse background in basic essential disciplines which are the Common Core of all our entire degree courses. The second year of the course will enable the BA Interior Architecture (Hons) students to gain a Master of Arts in Interior Design. Emphasis is placed on both the theoretical, practical and research aspects and one of the basic philosophies of the course is that good practice requires good theory and vice versa.
